The aim is to design a Wabi-Sabi-inspired villa that embraces the beauty of imperfection, natural materials, and simplicity. Wabi-Sabi is a Japanese aesthetic that celebrates the transient beauty of nature, aging, and imperfections, and this design will integrate that philosophy to create a tranquil, organic, and timeless living environment. The villa should evoke a sense of peace and harmony, allowing residents to connect with nature while enjoying luxury through the use of organic, sustainable, and authentic materials.
The primary challenge was to maintain a seamless indoor-outdoor connection while preserving privacy and functionality. The villa also required a cohesive design that balances modernity with rustic charm, ensuring it remains visually and emotionally engaging.
The space features an open-plan layout, with wooden beams, cane accents, and textured walls that add layers of warmth and character. Large, pivoting screen doors allow natural light to flood the interiors while providing ventilation and privacy. The dining area is anchored by a statement wooden table surrounded by handcrafted chairs, creating a perfect balance between luxury and artisanal craftsmanship. The kitchen’s minimalist cabinetry and open shelving showcase functionality without sacrificing style.
